MOLLY KAFKA, 24, GRADUATED MAGNA CUM LAUDE FROM BOSTON UNIVERSITY'S COLLEGE OF FINE ARTS IN MAY OF 2015 WITH A BACHELOR’S DEGREE IN PAINTING AND A MINOR IN WESTERN ART HISTORY.  THROUGH DECONSTRUCTION, ABSTRACTION, AND THE EXPLORATION OF THE DICHOTOMY OF FLATNESS AND FORM, MOLLY EXPLORES SOCIAL AND PERSONAL CONSTRUCTS OF BEAUTY.  STEMMING FROM HER EXPLORATION OF SOCIETY’S RESTRICTIVE AND UNREALISTIC EXPECTATIONS OF THE IDEAL WOMAN AND FEMALE FORM, MOLLY HAS RECENTLY BEGUN A SERIES IN WHICH SHE LOOKS TO THE WOMEN IN HER LIFE FOR INSPIRATION, RATHER THAN THE IMAGES OF “PERFECT” WOMEN THAT YOU SEE IN THE MEDIA.  WHY LOOK UP TO A WOMAN’S BEAUTY THAT IS UNATTAINABLE, WHEN YOU CAN LOOK UP TO YOUR MOTHER, SISTER, AND GRANDMOTHER-THE WOMEN FROM WHICH YOU INHERITED THOSE FEATURES THAT MAKE YOU UNIQUELY YOU?

WHILE MOLLY IS PREDOMINANTLY A PAINTER, SHE ALSO WORKS WITH FIBER AND TEXTILES, BOTH SEPARATE FROM AND IN CONJUNCTION WITH HER  PAINTINGS.  MOLLY IS A MASSACHUSETTS NATIVE WHO WAS RAISED AND CURRENTLY RESIDES IN HINGHAM, MASSACHUSETTS,  WORKING AS A RESIDENT VENUE ARTIST AT BOSTON'S HOUSE OF BLUES, AND A STUDIO ASSISTANT FOR A LOCAL BOSTON-BASED ARTIST.
